Buh-bye 2011

Happy New Year!!! This is also late, but I had to reflect on last year. It was full of good times and of course bad, but isn't it always better to focus on the good? From the eternal optimist here is my-

2011: A Year in Review
January: started my last year of grad school
February: lots of clinical work for school and a little telemark skiing
March: visited one of my BF's in Colorado. A trip that was a much needed school break and full of lots of fun like, tele skiing Aspen style, wine, organic fashion show, salsa dancing, hung over hike (this is how they roll in Colorado), relaxing, spending time with one of my favorite people.
April: finished up clinical work
May: the 'Rents traveled to England! Mom's painting sold and is now hanging in the Isle of White! BF from Colorado and I ran a half marathon. Oh, and I GRADUATED!!!
June: ended May and headed into June traveling with hubby on a trip to NYC to see BFF/former 7 year roommate and her now fiance, six flags, and our close/favorite friends in DC.
July: celebrated one year of marital bliss!
August: adopted our adorable puppy COOPER!!!
September: relaxed, finally adjusted to life without school. Was so fortunate to be a bridesmaid in Seattle BF's beautiful wedding.
October: started a new job! Enjoyed the leaves changing and crisp Fall air.
November: celebrated the big 3-0!
December: had a wonderful holiday dinner with my family full of laughs, happiness and love. This followed by a delicious Christmas and New Years Eve dinner with close friends (a good way to ring in the New Year).

That is a very quick, sappy synopsis of my 2011 year in review, but it is so fun to think of all the wonderful things that happened to me over the last year. While no one may read all the details, what I do want to share is how fortunate I am to have the most wonderful family and friends. They are what make this and every other year so amazing.

Since this English poet was named after a nurse (and nurses hold a special place in my heart) and I like her New Years quote (as cheesy and optimistic as it may be) here it is, "We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Years Day." -Edith Lovejoy Pierce.

30 is the new 20...

This is a little late, but I have to say I am so thankful for my family and friends!
I had the most wonderful holiday and birthday weekend!
Thanksgiving in Grand Junction CO: road trip with family, lots of wine, one of the hardest hikes I have ever been on, delicious dinner, watching football with my Mom!
Birthday in SLC: dinner with hubby and some favorite friends, seeing more friends, week full of fun surprises!
Thankful and happy am I! (Also, I got ID'd at the liquor store the other day, guess I don't look a day over 21...30 is the new 20, that's what's up!)
